The account from hosttracker.com was suspended because I had more than 2 URL in the trial account. I switched to the Free account and not it is working again.

Tinymailto slashdotted! Well, sort of ...
Tinymailto is currently on godaddy after a link to the site appeared on the front page of Slashdot:
http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/04/12/1737218
The response should much better, like 150ms more responsible and much much faster download rate.
Also, uptime should be near 99,99% now ;)

New tinymailto version
There is a new version of tinymailto uploaded today, version 21-jan-2008.
The new version include:
Enjoy!
The new version include:
- spellcheck/typo update, thank to Ryan from http://www.chimoosoft.com/ for the detailed email containing all the corrections
- a link back to the referrer page, as suggested by Daniele from http://www.bitlet.org/
- new about page, reflecting the actual status of tinymailto (no more an experiment)
- new retrieved page, a smaller page
- form input enhancement: size, javascript focus, tabindex(don't focus on the image)
- new top message on all pages: appears after you create a new tinymailto URL and in the case you click another link and forgot what your tinymailto URL code were
- PHP5 ready: this version works fine on PHP5, the version that will be used on godaddy hosting in the coming months (if all goes well)
Enjoy!

Moving to godaddy, maybe ...
I'm planning to move tinymailto to a godaddy account in 2008.
If all goes well, and I have the extra money left, I think it would be a good thing to move to a dedicated hosting plan.
Our current hosting has a nice uptime(not perfect), but the bandwidth is a little limited.

The captcha used in tinymailto.com is kcaptcha, I changed some parameters and upgraded the version to the latest, version 1.2.4
Now it uses only 4 letters/numbers and the background color is the same as the page

Nedstats/Motigo deprecated!
I delete the counter of motigo(formelly nedstat) because now they show ads without your permission!!!
Motigo sucks :(
"With the use of motigo products and services on the site it is accepted that WMS has the right to place advertisements on the site in any format or through any channel, including but not limited to e-mail, layer ads, pops, banners and other usual formats without any forewarning and it is furthermore accepted that WMS takes no responsibility for the advertising content and that WMS shall not be liable for any losses incurred regarding this advertising."http://motigo.com/about/terms

Web uptime monitoring
Just added a web server uptime monitoring in tinymailto.com
The service is provided for free by http://host-tracker.com/
Is really an usefull site, so I recommend it. It has monitoring rate up to 1 minute, and reports from dially to anual basis.
A few days ago it seems that all Internet in my country went down, I have another server on another ISP and suffered the same downtime in the same timeframe.
Hope it helps

October 2006 news
Hi all, this post is part of the monthly tinymailto newsletter.
tinymailto keep going fine, we have 209 URL created so far!
The site is much faster without google adsense, also looks a little better. No news yet about the ajax idea, I hope to get some time soon.
Greetings from a friday-13th night ... :)

Adsense no more + ajax popup
I'm planning deprecating the Adsense for tinymailto.com, so it will load a little bit faster.
The Firefox button should stay.
More ideas - ajax popup
I'm planning learning about AJAX in the near future, I'm choosing a book right now. My idea is to put tinymailto.com in your page.
A click on you tinymailto.com URL will popup a litle window pointing to tinymail.com, you will only have to enter the captcha and there you go, your email is clickable.
If the user closes the popup, he must do all over again.
The popup will not be a window, but a html element, something like: amazon wish list popup, google calendar dialog popup for: adding a calendar, "do you want to delete your calendar", etc
That's all the brainstorming for now ...

Tinymailto.com, 5 weeks later
This is the weekly report. Starting from today, I'm planning reporting once a month. So I will have a little more time on sundays for playing games or the familly ;)
Traffic is stabilizing after the masive visitors from stumbleupon.com, for example, until today we have 192 URLs created.
We have now like 60-70 visits por week.
Until next month, bye

Developer diaries #1
This post is just for giving a little information about the site programming decisions.
BD: for the database I used Mysql 4 with InnoDB. No triggers were necessary.
Security: I use the PHP safe_mode and open_basedir options. Also, I parse all input, especially the page names.
... more to come
